A MESSAGE FROM OUR SUNDAY SCHOOL DIRECTOR

Dear St. Alban’s Sunday School families, We are happy to report that we will have an optional hybrid in-person Sunday School at St. Alban’s once a month on the last Sunday of each month, beginning on November 29, 2020, at 9:00 am. The children can then enjoy the family Sunday service together at 9:30am. During this in-person lesson on the last Sunday of the month we will still offer Sunday school via Zoom for those families who are more comfortable with distant Sunday School learning. (see our instructions for ZOOM below). Sunday School will still be held on Zoom for the other remaining Sundays. We will follow the guidelines set by the County, State, and the Bishop’s Office of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. These guidelines are posted at every exit door of the church building.

All children attending in-person Sunday School must wear face masks, get their temperature checked, and use hand sanitizer upon arrival to class. The Sunday School teachers will sign the children in after checking their temperature. If a child has a temperature of 100 degrees or above, they cannot attend class in person but can attend class virtually. Upon arrival, you will also answer the following Safety Health Questions. We will use the same Safety Health Questions, followed by the Cajon Valley School District:

1. Has your child experienced any Covid-19 symptoms in the last 14 days? Fever over 100 degrees, cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, body aches, loss of taste or smell, runny nose, fatigue, headache, new rash, vomiting, or diarrhea? (No)

2. Has your child been exposed to anyone who has been tested positive for Covid-19 in the last two weeks? (No)

3. May Staff take the student’s temperature? (Yes)

If your responses to these questions are different from above, please attend Sunday School virtually.

Sunday School classes held on the last Sunday of the month will be in the church hall, but some lessons might be outside in the yard between the church and Head Start, depending on the weather. Children are required to sit in chairs that will be spaced for social distancing. Children will not be allowed to move their seats and must remain in their assigned seats for the entire lesson unless the Sunday School teachers approve it. Our Sunday School teachers will sanitize the chairs and tables before each class. We also will utilize a UVC disinfecting light when Sunday School is held in the church hall. We are requesting that the parent or guardian please discuss these requirements with your children.

Please keep your children home if they exhibit any symptoms of Covid 19 or have a fever.

We look forward to seeing our Sunday School children in person or via Zoom for Sunday School classes and hope we are able slowly get back to traditional in-person worship.

SPECIAL NOTICE: This year the St. Alban’s annual Children’s Christmas Pageant will be slightly different due to State and County guidelines regarding social distancing to prevent the spread of Covid- 19. We are looking for Sunday school children to volunteer to be readers or singers for our Christmas Pageant. The children will be recorded on Zoom, and we will also use pictures from past Christmas Pageants to make a picture slide show that will run during the Christmas carols portion of our pageant. Please let me know by November. 20 if your child would like to participate. If you have any past St. Alban’s Christmas Pageant pictures that you would like to share for our Christmas Pageant video, please send them to us by December. 1. The Christmas Pageant video will be played during the Sunday church service on December 20, 9:30 am; it will also be on the St. Alban’s Church Facebook.

St. Alban’s Giving Opportunities By Judy Brown, Treasurer

You’ve asked & we have found a way to answer the question – St. Alban’s now has the ability for individuals to give financial support electronically. We have an account with Tithely. Web location: https://get.tithe.ly Tithely allows people to make donations by setting up their own online giving accounts or via a downloadable phone app.

Tithely allows individuals to make payments from their checking/savings accounts or by credit card. They just create an account online or on the phone app and create the payment they want. Tithely has great online support to ask questions of as people set up their account or create their payments. When they make a payment, they get an email receipt for their donation to use for their tax purposes. The system will ask if the giver wants to pay the processing fee so the church won’t pay it & it will be reflected in their receipt if they choose to do so.

Payments can be one time or recurring. This will make it easier for those who are unable to attend church for any reason to continue their giving. We have set up categories for the various church accounts people can donate to.

The giving options are:

  • General Fund
  • Capital/Building Fund
  • Refugee
  • Pastoral
  • Outreach
  • Welcome Ministry of El Cajon

We are excited to provide this additional opportunity for giving as we’ve been asked by many how people can give online. If you are interested, you can get the phone app, go online, or ask me, Judy Brown, for more info.

Other programs that are currently suspended indefinitely or until we are given the “OK” by the State of CA, the County of San Diego, and the EDSD:
